The waiting is the hardest part!

We had a chance to meet up with our realtor yesterday and gain access to the inside of the house and take some measurements (let's be real a second though... when I say we, what I really mean is that the boys took the measurements, and the girls oogled over the flowers!) In any case, it was a beautiful afternoon and we have taken any opportunity we find to spend time up at farm. Since we don't technically own it yet, we can't get into the house without the realtor. But the current owners have given us free reign to at least visit. Every time we are there, all I want to do is get started on something. There are a million things to do,  but we must remain patient!

As you can see, the daffodils are in full bloom!  Oliver stopped and smelled literally ever single flower that he found. He is going to love being a farm boy! It took all our will power to not start cleaning up the flower beds in the front yard. We discovered peonies and glads starting to emerge from their dormancies. The grapes that we thought might be just a tangled mess of dried out vines is showing new life, and even harboring a robin's nest with 3 lovely blue eggs. And we counted perhaps 6 apple trees scattered around the yard.  We still don't have our closing date on the farm. I close on my house sale May 2, and Mom and Dad accepted an offer on their house yesterday! Things may be moving slow now, but it won't stay that way for long!

What a stud!

Cedar shakes on the chicken coop

While structurally sound, this guy needs a little love!

There are a few original features left in the house,
and we will be salvaging ALL of them! I am in love with the door knobs!!!

We've only just begun....

Farm house built in 1900
This is the farm!  No up close pictures lest you notice that we are slightly crazy for buying this place. Those pictures will come later, because there is more to do in this place than I could list out for you in a reasonable amount of space. And we plan to document our progress right here. For now, enjoy the beauty of this land, and the possibility that oozes from every corner.  We don't even have our official closing date yet...hopefully in the next few weeks...but maybe longer :(.  For now all we can do is visit and watch as spring awakens. The farm hasn't been functional since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and the house has been vacant for nearly a decade. But at one point in history someone took great care to plant a significant number of flower bulbs, lilacs and (we think) grapes. And there are trees still surrounded by fencing or chicken wire that must hold some significance. I feel like we have a secret garden, and one of my favorite parts will be discovering it all!
